I had some spare time at home last week and thought I’d submit something to Design by Humans’ 10K contest. I tweaked another piece from 2006’s Concentric Series into a tee. I actually think it will make a better shirt than the design that won shirt of the month in June, which is currently sold out. I’m in buried under an avalanche of student loans, so help me out and send some votes my way. It would be the nice thing to do. I realize that some people might not agree with this submission after I won last time, but it’s a series. You need more than one. Tell your friends about it. I’d really appreciate it.

Some random ramblings from Go Media’s primary web developer Chris Wilson:

Hey guys, I like the irony in this… after my mention yesterday of pushing html around for almost a decade, I hit an obstacle laying out a footer in the new world of Table-free markup. I wrote and manipulated a pile of javascript and css to try and push a footer down beneath two “float:left” divs … if you’re familiar with the Float property, it has a strange way of causing its parent to stop inheriting its contents height and width … the purpose of float:left (or right) is to allow following (or previous in the case of right float) content to wrap around it (similar to when you align-left an image inside a paragraph). This is useful when you’re creating columns of content. The annoyance comes in when you’d like that “next” piece of content to stop wrapping up around the floated element. This is where the “clear float” css class comes in. After spending probably 2+ hours going around and around with trying to layout my footer, it was a simple css style, “clear:left” that did the trick I was looking for. I had seen the ‘clear’ property forever, but it never clicked for me. I haven’t been using the ‘float’ property very long either, so that may be why I was unfamiliar with its powerful counterpart … in essence the “clear” property breaks the chain of the float property to rather start its own new line.

People often wonder who is writing these blog entries and who is making all this cool art. Well, we’ve decided to do a little meet and greet - virtually. Our lovely in-house photographer Diann decided to snap some photos of all of us so you can see our smiling (or grimacing) faces!

Each member of Go Media will have their own separate post with their photos, some artwork they’ve created if applicable, and a mini bio to go along with it. You can even ask this person questions in the comments if you want. I think this will be a fun way for our readers to get an idea of who makes up the team at Go Media.

To get things started, I’ll post a group photo (click to enlarge):

So be on the lookout too meet each one of us!

Hello everyone, my name is Kim and I am the office manager here at Go Media. This is my first blog entry. I am going to post every now and then to show you all some random pictures from the office. This will give everyone a glimpse at our daily life here at Go Media.

This first picture is of our favorite cat, Tekno. (yes that’s how his name is spelled!) Here he is on my desk.

Aww isn’t he cute!? The best part of my day is whenever Tekno decides to run across my desk. Sometimes he lays down and stays a while and other times he tries to eat my food. Gotta love him! Last week we all got a kick out of him going crazy over some catnip. Tekno is now in rehab and we miss him dearly. =)

Hope you liked the picture! I’ll post more soon.
