Watch out! It’s Big November at Go Media - and that not only means tons more awesome design resources to spice up your upcoming projects, but a whole new & improved Arsenal.

We’re kicking it off with the Tennery Typeface and latest installment of Apparel Templates.

Tennery

I remember when Oliver started working on Tennery last summer. I was a big fan of it even in the early stages, and I think it shaped up into an incredible typeface. It’s really unique and yet totally applicable - and comes with three weights plus oblique versions. The lower case ‘y’ in Tennery is one my favorites. Definitely worth checking out.

Ladies Short Sleeved Templates

You may remember that last month the Ladies Long Sleeved Template Pack was released. Jimiyo wrote a pretty sweet tutorial about his process for mocking tees back then, but he was actually using an early version of our Ladies Short Sleeved Templates . A lot of you commented wanting to know when those would be available. Well today is the day!

We listened to your feedback about our first Apparel Template Pack and made a lot of changes for this latest version. They’re now in PSD format (no more Tiffs!), have layers that make it even easier to change the shirt color and new highlighting (in addition to shadows). The biggest change is probably how much easier it is to paste ‘Your Art’ right into the shirt area. No more mask dragging. Just paste & go.

Arsenal 2.0

Finally! We’re getting really close everybody. We’ve totally outgrown the current Arsenal, and we’re pretty pumped to be able to do a better job giving you fresh design ammunition. So get excited for more reliable downloads, forums, better search, and user accounts!

We’re opening the flood gates on new design resources. Look out for a ton of new stuff this month!

I had some spare time at home last week and thought I’d submit something to Design by Humans’ 10K contest. I tweaked another piece from 2006’s Concentric Series into a tee. I actually think it will make a better shirt than the design that won shirt of the month in June, which is currently sold out. I’m in buried under an avalanche of student loans, so help me out and send some votes my way. It would be the nice thing to do. I realize that some people might not agree with this submission after I won last time, but it’s a series. You need more than one. Tell your friends about it. I’d really appreciate it.

Orlando, FL, April 16, 2008 – Go Media Inc., won the Best Midwest Feature Design crown in Create Magazine’s Editor’s Choice Awards. Go Media conquered tens of other candidates to earn the title and was selected based on their innovative design and eye for detail. The award-winning work, a regional feature design titled “Webtechnologic,” dazzled the world in the Jan+Feb 2007 Midwest issue.

“Go Media was a true pleasure to collaborate with on this project,” said Create Magazine Art Director Kristen Schaeffer-Santoni. “Passionately taking the creative challenge to heart, the end result was a wonderful expression of their vision and skill.

Go Media is fortunate enough to be included twice in the new Feb 08 issue of Computer Arts Magazine. Haley wraps up the 4 part tutorial series for cross-media design by explaining how to output a logo to a mobile device. And I wrote a tutorial doing some ornate typography from sketch to vector. Check it out:

From the article…

“Ornate lettering isn’t anything new. It’s been around for centuries and there are many ways to create it. You can get out your pens, pencils, brushes, rulers, French curves, and a compass; but I can almost guarantee that most young designers today would rather just use the computer than create it by hand.

Although we’re going to be using the computer, we will still start with a sketch. We will scan it into the computer and use Illustrator to create a vector version and add some additional detail. Then we’ll use 3ds Max to give it some depth. We’ll take it back into Illustrator and Live Trace your 3d render and then finally take the lettering into Photoshop to put on the finishing touches.

The purpose of this tutorial is to give you an insight into my workflow and inspire you to create your own lettering. Have fun!”

Here’s an excerpt from the Cross Media design Part 4:

“In our November 2007 issue we began a series of tutorials showing you how to create brand artwork and adapt it for different media. We started off by creating a logo and a print ad, then animated the logo for the web, and last month brought it to life for broadcast with a range of special effects. We finish the series this issue with exporting an animation for mobile devices.

This tutorial will give you a breakdown of the different formats and procedures that you need to choose between. We’ll take a look at Adobe’s Device Central, a great resources for finding specs on the latest devices, and explore how it can be used to preview mobile content. We’ll also cover how to export to M4V, 3G, and FLV formats using QuickTime Pro and After Effects.”

Damon and his crew at Communicator were hired by Pepsi to help market their campaign with the Black Eyed Peas. Communicator did what they do best and came up with all the great marketing ideas that formed the foundation for the website. Communicator hired Go Media to bring those ideas to life. Basically, we took all their ideas and developed the graphics, animation, and technology. They were the brains, while we were the creative production team. We’d like to thank Communicator for hiring us and trusting us with their project and Bernstein & Andriulli for hooking us up together.

The site scored extremely well on all of the judges criteria:

Here’s what it says:

“American design studio Go Media’s vector packs show that the grotesque can be beautiful with artworks of ornamentally framed skulls. Nature lovers among you should go for the individual vector packs Trees and Flock of Birds. To raise the temperature of your designs, opt for the individual vector packs Flames and The Sexy Pack. Go Media has collaborated with the Black Eyed Peas, Metallica, Virgin Records, Pepsi, and Coca-Cola.”

You can get all those packs at gomedia.us/arsenal

Here’s the front and back covers of the issue in case you want to pick it up. They will be at Siggraph 2007, which Bill and I plan on attending this year. If anyone else is going, maybe we’ll see you there!

Oh and by the way, we found this interesting:
