Photoshop Action: Stamp/Print Effect

Turquoise Flag-Tip

Works great on any single color logo, emblem, mark, seal, crest.

Because of the great response to my Aged Type action, I took it a bit further and made a similar effect that could be applied, not only to text, but to your logo to give it an authentic stamp or print effect. I have seen various rubber stamp effects on google and none are all that great. So let me show you why mine is the bees knees.

This is a premium Photoshop action that took some time to perfect. So we’re selling it for the cheap price of $1.99.  Credit Cards and Paypal accepted.

Instructions

  1. After downloading the action, simply open up the .ATN file and it will automatically load it into your Photoshop Actions panel ready for use! For best results start with a black and white image that’s at least 800-1,000 pixels wide.
  2. In Photoshop, select the layer you want to turn into a stamp and press PLAY on the “Stamp/Print by Go Media” action. It will apply the effect!

Here are some tips:

  • Works best on images at least 800 px wide
  • Works on any logo, text, or even photos!
  • Can also be used as a faux screenprint or letterpress effect
  • Final result is on its own layer.
  • Settings are completely customizable, tweak to your heart’s content
Pro Tip: The action runs automatically once you click it. But if you want to adjust any of the effects/filters as it happens, toggle this dialog box icon so it stops at every step allowing you to get more control over the effects.

Examples:

Result is on its own layer

Even works on photos!

For best results, you might have to adjust the contrast of your source image. And again, the settings are fully adjustable inside the action so you can tweak it to your hearts content!

Shut up and take my money.

That said, are there ways to adjust some of the grunge that’s applied?

    • http://www.gomedia.us/ Jeff Finley

yeah, if you toggle that dialog box and let it stop at every step along the way, you can adjust the settings for each one. Or you can just edit the action’s steps to suit your own style.

Is there anyway to use this effect using photoshop elements?

  • jimSDCA

I have CS6. What I am finding is that it doesn’t work well with color logos like the blue and red logo at the top. I created a duplicate layer of the logo and locked it. Then I ran the action. After the action I used an overlay blending option over the locked layer. Is there a better way? Thanks!

  • Kimberly Smith

I can’t find the action on Photoshop?! I downloaded it and opened the ATL file etc, someone please help!

Hey, I bought the file but it won’t open. I double click on it and apparently it opens photoshop but nothing happens. Never seen an .atn file berofe. What should I do?

Doesn’t work in CS6. Waste of two dollars.

  • Harry Jukes

Excuse my ignorance but i cannot get the white faded effect you show above,
every time i run the action it automatically goes to black!? Using CS4. Please tell me how to correct?

  • Harry Jukes

Jeff, its obvious that you are not forthcoming on any solutions to questions or queries. People you can download faded fonts and grunge brushes freeware that will give you better results. Do not waste your $1.99 on this action.
