Giveaway: Win a Drobo Storage Device ($800 value)

Turquoise Flag-Tip

The GoMediaZine has the pleasure to be able to give two lucky winners a Drobo S. What’s a Drobo you ask? It’s a storage solution for creative professionals and small businesses that retails for approximately $800 bucks. You load it with hard drives and it does the rest. You could have like 15 TB of storage and backup for your design projects, music, photos, etc. I own a Drobo FS at my home and my wife and I use it to store all our photos, music, and movies on it. At Go Media, we have an intense and expensive server room with racks of equipment protecting our data, but we realize not everyone has the space or budget for this type of solution. For a freelancer or small studio, the Drobo is perfect.

According to their site the Drobo S is:

The World’s Most Advanced USB 3.0 Storage Array
In addition to blazing fast transfer speeds for creative professionals and small businesses, the all-new Drobo S features USB 3.0 technology that delivers the most expandable, future-proof solution on the market today. Drobo S offers an unbeatable combination of automated protection, instant and perpetual expansion, and high performance.

You can find out more info on their site.

So let’s do this giveaway, alright?

I currently have several external hard drives, plus old CDs and DVDs backing up old projects, plus music and graphics libraries. Drobo would replace it all, life would be bliss, no more taking hours to find archived projects and images. This would rock as I’m moving toward doing more freelance work.

I will consolidate all my external drives full of work files, videos, photos, etc. so I can consume less power and be a better steward of energy conservation.

  • Chad Trutt

I would this to store my ridiculous amount of movie and music to have and have more room to store my large working files. If I don’t win I might just have to go ahead and make a purchase but it would be better to WIN!

The Drobo will make the perfect home for my library of stock images, vectors (from GoMedia), brushes, fonts and previous design files. Not to mention all the photos and music currently taking up room on my HDD!

I will use it to store five years’ worth of photographs and source material (approx. 110,000 RAW images, and a huge amount of samples/vectors/sources/brushes) which I have accumulated throughout my forays into illo and design.. I will also use it as an archive for my video and animation work, as well as a scratch drive so that I can create faster! This would rock as I’ve filled three 2TB usb drives already and I’d love to get rid of the USB hub which has spawned a spiders’ nest of wires all over my table and workspace! I bet it’s quieter too.. Drobo would be the perfect solution, especially as I am about to kick off a new collaboration..

  • Kenneth Sherrill

I do a lot of freelance design work so i have lots of client files as well as tons of clip art and fonts. I have them spread out over several internal and external drives. Would be great to be able to have them all in one place and get rid of some of the clutter on my desk. not to mention the security of knowing the files are on a stable device. I am also involved in the music industry and have tons of music on my system… if i were to lose that i would be devastated. This would be a dream come true for me to won.

  • http://twitter.com/scott_heit Scott Heit

I don’t even know where some of my old archived files are. Burned to a CD/DVD and thrown in a box in the attic. Drobo would help me be organized and streamline my archiving process. Plus storage for thousands of family photos.

  • http://twitter.com/Braniel_ Brandon Dover

I’m a 19 year old graphic design student and entrepreneur; I have lots of designs and such that need backing up. I’d love to utilize that Drobo to keep all of my important files nice and organized inside of that warm and cozy storage device. Not to mention music, movies, games, and things of like that! I’ve been looking at external hard drives (I don’t have one yet) and this one would be extremely rad!

  • http://twitter.com/ceanlovesyou Cean

All my music and videos and psd files!

  • Valerie Babin

Pictures and videos, that takes a lot of data!

  • http://twitter.com/iamlouisbullock Louis Bullock

I would my life’s work on there, all of my graphic design work, music production projects and sample packs, my music collection, and a ton of inspirational photos and designs.

Not only that, I would put all my games on there, and my backup files of past websites, games and files of mine from the stone-age, and mountains of miscellaneous crap that’s been accumulating on my current HD.

And I’d most definitely use it for my graphic design work, as keeping a record or a backup of designs is paramount, as I can reflect on past work and then improve future work by avoiding past design mistakes.

I’d really like this, as it’d be just the thing I need to give my starting design career the kick it needs!

  • http://twitter.com/embeetweets Mary Beth Seacott

I’ll use it to store all of my music, movies and photos. I recently lost 4 years of photos and my entire music collection when my external drive fell off a table (yay!), so we’ve been talking about storing everything on a server, but this sounds like an ideal solution for us.

  • http://twitter.com/KlicksterElRey David Klein

  • http://twitter.com/AMusingBrunette Vanessa Gomez

Being a freelance designer, I certainly accumulate a ton of project files so those would definitely be the first in line to occupy the Drobo S if ever I win (which of course I’m hoping to!). I’m also a photography hobbyist and so the stack of photos I’ve previously taken and will soon take shall likewise be provided a space in there. I’m also planning to start on trying out video production next year, and anyone who has handled videos definitely knows that those guys are quite demanding when it comes to storage space. Not to mention file backups, that Drobo S will definitely have its muscles stretched once it arrives at my doorstep! Hoping to win! :)
