Inspiration Sea

Inspiration Sea is a worldwide community spreading inspiration through art. It allows designers of all kinds (graphic designers, illustrators, web designers, photographers, etc.) to showcase their best work. Users can sign up for a free account to gain access to features like commenting, the message board, the job board, favorite designs they like, and more.

To be able to post inspiration on the site, you must have an invite code from someone on the site or win one through contests that will happen.

If you go to the Launch Giveaways page, you will be able to see that started this coming Monday, there will be a weekly contest for 5 weeks. Giving out prizes like Arsenal Coupon Codes, invite codes, and 2gb flash drives.

Inspiration Sea looks like a great new way to share and discuss your creations with other creative types, kind of like a Flickr for creativity. Users can vote and comment on each creative work, allowing for interactive community-based critiques.

I remember a little under a year ago when the GoMedia blog and newsletter didn't suck. I was always really excited to open my email and see what new awesomeness awaited me on newsletter delivery day…but alas, no more.

Since the “change-over” I feel like the dedication to quality content and really caring about the community went with it.

Sorry George, I'm sure you mean well…and I don't mean to just dump non-constructive criticism – but I just felt I should share how I feel – to be honest with you for the sake of saving not destroying.

This post in-particular…what IS this thing? In the over-crowded world of inspiration websites, this certainly doesn't meet GoMedia's usual standards. The site was obviously created with the help of a decent illustrator but no real web designer present. It's a bad Wordpress template containing really bad information presentation. A chewed-up and spit out version of some readily available WP plug-ins to get the general functionality you wanted but with no real imagination. To me, a former dedicated reader, this is just white noise.

    I'm afraid that's where you're headed GoMedia. Don't say I didn't warn you.

Public attacks on random blog posts aren't really the best way to give any kind of criticism or feedback. Also, your author link is a Twitter feed. Lulz.

Aaron, we are a small design studio of 11 people total and not all of us are designers. Our company is very busy with our design services besides the Arsenal, Shirt Mockup, and more. There are only so many hours in a day and unfortunately we don't have as much time to spend on the Zine, which is where George came in. We definitely have more content now than we did before George came on board and we are happy for his help. You are welcome to submit a tutorial if you are interested in contributing and helping out our blog.

What I would add to what has already been answered is that InspirationSea is not done by or for GoMedia, as far as I know. And places to post work are always (okay, most of the time) interesting I think.

But as Go Media answered, you're more than welcome to raise the level and share some of your knowledge :-) Your tumblr has some pretty interesting stuff on it.

No issues for me :-) I mean, sometimes, you put somebody on a pedestal and when they seem to fall, you don't understand.

And can't wait to read your first tutorial :-)

I humbly apologize, after reading over my comment again, I was overly negative and harsh (as I tend to be at times unfortunately). I guess part of me felt like I would be ignored anyways – that it didn't matter. I forgot, for a moment, that there are real people behind those names.

GoMediazine holds a special place in my heart because you were the first to fully answer some of the questions I had been asking for years through a few of your posts. Your posts always displayed a level of detail, transcendence, and shear effort that made me say “wow!” every time. They are powerful enough, at times, to reach into my own business and change things for the better. For that reason, I became sensitive about the issue.

I co-own a small, 3 person, studio myself and understand fully the time constraints therein. I also understand that the blog can't always be such a priority – especially for a company like yourselves who have an established client base.

I hope you can forgive me – especially you George.

I'd love to contribute to the blog. I'll be thinking about my first submission.

Sorry again for being “that guy.”

Not a problem Aaron, constructive criticism is always welcome. I do my best to make the Zine “not suck”, but as pointed out above we're a smaller team trying to do our best with the resources we have.

We'd be glad to get you on board as a contributor, please drop us a line so we can discuss further. The more we can involve the Go Media community, the better!

I for one enjoy most of the posts. I've been coming here and following the Blog for some time and not everything is 100% relevant to me. I still think you would be hard pressed not to find something of value. It’s always a good practice to not assume you speak for everyone when posting angry comments. George has been adding value to this blog, online through Artcast Network, and through his own website. I value his opinion and feel he adds a dimension of real world experience which you won't find everywhere.
