From the Portfolio: Candy Lettering

Feb 10

Inspiration

Here are some examples of vector lettering in a “candy” style. The first was a concept for Fergie and the 2nd is a concept for Paint the Stars Clothing. The Paint the Stars one is currently being sold on a hoodie in their web store. You can buy one here. The rest are other examples in this style. These are from 2006-2007.

  • these are really cool but I sometimes find them hard to read. I have to really concentrate to make out the letters, which I think would be a disadvantage if using this type of artwork for advertising anything. But it looks so great I want to make some!
  • i love these. i want to bite in to them!
  • These are nice, was there a tutorial to go with this? These would look brilliant for a Milkshake company branding.
  • I'd like to use some of this candy lettering on my blog :D
  • I second Edward... I'd like to see how this is done. Any chance?

I would love a tutorial on your design process for the candy lettering. Its look like a complicated thing to pull off.

Wow it's not hard to read at all, I don't know what you guys are talking about.
  • hm. this is a little bit too much for me: super busy and difficult to read. although, for what it is it's well executed.

maybe it's a good metaphor for fergie? unable to read and kind of fat?
  • They all look very nice, and reminds me a lot of the old "Sugarhill Gang" logo :)
  • As the others have said, very hard to read. I would have never gotten the Paint The Stars one if I didn't know what it said before hand.

    Interesting concept though.
  • Though a bit tough to read, I like the style. The first picture is the best in my opinion.

ill remember this when i apply at the north pole

I did some like this once, it's not hard and a lot of fun.
  • I've always found these ones amusing, if a bit difficult to read. But for me that's part of the fun. My favorite is the Fergie one.

GONNA DEFF TRY CANDY STYLE WITH ROUND,FAT(FRAFFITTI CAP)BRUSH STROKES?....
    THANKS AGAIN...
  • I think they look really good, but I can't read what they spell...
  • I'm not a huge fan of these, but the way the tchnique is handled is impressive as usual :-) The volumes can be felt perfectly.

Isn't the number of colors a problem when it comes to priting ?
