Paparazzi!: Full Web Page Screenshots Utility (OS X)

Paparazzi! is a handy little niche utility for Mac OS X that creates screenshots of full webpages. Add a URL (or choose from a list of recently visited sites) and Paparazzi! brings up the page in a mini-browser. Save the file in your preferred format, with custom file name options (such as auto-adding the date, year, URL, page title and more).

The real gem here is that Paparazzi! takes a screenshot of the entire web page, not just what’s visible on-screen. Great tool for web designers.

    I have used Paparazzi for awhile and honestly it has been hit and miss. Sometimes it grabs the whole page and makes it a fantastic program. And then there are the misses. Many times it doesn't save the entire page which can be very frustrating. Another downside having to manually open Paparazzi and add the URL in several steps.

    I use Pearl Crescent for Firefox and it puts a button in the browser toolbar for a one step process. And it has never saved an incmplete page. I just wish there was something like that for Safari.

    Sorry to be a Debbie Downer (wah wah wah) but Paparazzi sucks IMO.

    I also use Screengrab and advice everyone to do so. It saves a lot of time when you should take a screenshot of a webpage.

    I use the Abduction extension for Firefox and am loving it. With that I'd completely forget I had any other apps installed to deal with capturing and it'd just got to waste!

    I love how you guys (basically multimedia design guys with no skills or ability to take world class images) palm this sort of application off as 'essential for design purposes'. Essential how? To document webpages for later reference? Dont know how to use bookmarks?

    This is all about stealing images that you can later reposition as part of a broader 'graphic design' and circumvent the obligation to purchase rights the use of images in your artwork or design.

    I mean what ever happened to graphic design when it meant something. When you actually sat down and brought something original, unique and special to the world with your own creativity.

    Screen grabbing from other people's websites is pathetic. If you want to reference it – bookmark it. These days you just grab someone elses idea, copy it and add a little twist and call yourself a graphic designer.

    Dont even try and suggest 'oh its only low resolution'. Because if the image has been commissioned on a website and your end game is to illegally reposition it on another website then its already at an acceptable resolution.

    It is one thing to run a media website where you encourage each other to share free things and tools and tips and assets. Its another thing entirely to encourage other artists to use tools with take images off other artists websites without even a hint of permission.

    This is where the internet needs so much more structure regarding digital assets. If an image (either photographic or graphic designed or otherwise) appears anywhere online and does not have a direct reference to its originator or a relevent usage licence/permission then ought to be deemed to have been screen grabbed and therefor stolen.

    Not everyone presents their work online for it to be taken via screen grabs to be repositioned by graphic designers who lack vision.

    Get a grip.

    I'm actually a big fan of the Aviary plug-in for Firefox https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/…. Works much the same way.

    That is a great find, even though I use a 24″ iMac I can never quite grab a full screen shot of my websites, or websites I want to take a screen shot of. Cheers for this.
